AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi "hopes" they can keep hold of Robinho.

Robinho has been repeatedly linked with a move to Santos, but Berlusconi insisted the matter is in the balance.

"We hope to convince Robinho to stay with us. He brings great joy to the locker room and we are all fond of him. He misses Brazil, but he's not for sale.

"We are trying to strengthen the squad with the introduction of young champions, but I do hope a few big signings can be made.

"Nigel De Jong's injury is a real shame, but we already have cover for him in midfield."
