AC Milan are ready to appeal against Mario Balotelli's three-match suspension.

The former Manchester City striker copped the ban, in part, for abusing match officials during the 2-2 draw with Fiorentina on Sunday.

However, Gazzetta dello Sport says Milan will lodge an appeal, citing racist abuse from Fiorentina fans as being to blame for Balotelli's outburst.

Milan desperately need the striker available with their Champions League qualifying hopes on a knife edge.
