Milan had a £7 million bid for the midfielder turned down by Boca president Mauricio Macri last month and are ready to take advantage of a blow-up between Banega and coach Miguel Russo.

After Sunday's Superclassico against River Plate, Russo delivered Banega the mother of all dressing downs for his performance to the extent that the young playmaker is ready to quit the club in January, says Controcampo.

Macri has imposed a media silence on the entire club over the incident, but those close to Banega say he is ready to explode and Milan are waiting in the wings to pick up the pieces.
