AC Milan players and coaching staff clashed with ref Paolo Valeri in the immediate aftermath of their derby defeat to Inter Milan on the weekend, it has been revealed.

Corriere dello Sport says Valeri was constantly abused by the Milan bench during the game and things spilled over at the final whistle.

Suspended captain Massimo Ambrosini and director Ariedo Braida both confronted Valeri in the players' tunnel after the match.

"The refereeing was technically inadequate," blasted Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani last night.
