AC Milan will sound out Real Madrid about the availability of Mahamadou Diarra in the coming weeks.

La Stampa says Milan see Diarra as an ideal replacement for Rino Gattuso, who has agreed personal terms with Bayern Munich and will meet with vice-president Adriano Galliani this week to make a final decision over his future with the Rossoneri.

If Galliani cannot persuade Gattuso to stay he will move for Diarra, though Real management have already informed the midfielder's minders that he is wanted for next season.
