AC Milan to outbid Barcelona with £35M offer for Arsenal captain Cesc

AC Milan are preparing to outbid Barcelona for Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas. The Daily Star Sunday says the Italian giants are set to make a £35million offer for the Arsenal captain - the figure at which it is believed the Gunners will reluctantly do business.

Fabregas, 24, is already at the centre of a tug-of-war involving Arsenal and Barcelona. Manager Arsene Wenger is becoming increasingly frustrated at the situation, with the new season just a fortnight away.

Neither Arsenal or Barcelona will welcome Milan entering the Fabregas equation - but it could force the Spanish club to increase their offer.

Milan could be dismissed from the battle by Fabregas himself, who seems interested only in returning to Barca, where he was in their academy, if he is to leave Arsenal.

But Milan's interest in the Spain midfielder is serious - with even senior players being aware of it at the San Siro.

A Milan source told the Daily Star Sunday: "We have been watching the situation and we would be delighted if Fabregas came here. And of course, this club has the money to do the deal."
