AC Milan have opened formal talks with Genoa for striker Luca Toni.
Gazzetta dello Sport says Milan see the 33 year-old as a stop-gap as they wait until the summer to bring Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli back to Italy.
Interestingly, Genoa president Enrico Preziosi is in Brazil this week, where Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has been conducting contract talks with Ronaldinho's camp.
Inter have also been linked with a move for Toni in this morning's press.
