AC Milan assistant coach Mauro Tassotti admits they're keen on Newcastle United defender Davide Santon.

Santon is under consideration at Milan as a replacement for Ignazio Abate, who is a target for Zenit St Petersburg.

"I knew about Santon as a youngster, but I do not think he has lost his quality," said Tassotti.

"It would be good for Italian football if Santon was to come back here."
