AC Milan goalscorer Mathieu Flamini says he was sent off against Napoli because he was trying too hard.
Flamini claims his horror tackle on Juan Camilo Zuniga was "because I wanted to prove to everyone I'm worthy of the Milan shirt".
"I am happy for the goal, especially as it was my second in as many games, but I am disappointed at the red card," he told Sky Sport Italia.
"The tackle was so determined because I wanted to prove to everyone that I am a player again, full of enthusiasm and someone who is worthy of the Milan shirt.
"It was a mistake to leave the team with 10 men, but I had so much hunger and determination that these things can happen in football."
