And part of negotiations with the Spaniard is Milan's promise that they will seek to bring Cesc Fabregas from Barca as one of his first signings.
The former Arsenal captain has been a long-term target for Milan president Silvio Berlusconi, who tried for him last year until it became apparent that he only wanted to return home to the Nou Camp.
