AC Milan legend Franco Baresi has backed their pursuit of Manchester City rebel Carlos Tevez. The Rossoneri are attempting to sign the Argentine during the January transfer window and Baresi thinks it would be a fine swoop.

"If there is the possibility to enrich the squad then Tevez would be welcome," the former centre-back told Sky Sport Italia.

"He is a great player and the numbers speak for themselves.

"He would certainly be able to make a major contribution here. Who wouldn't want him at their football club?"
