AC Milan are intensifying talks with representatives of Cagliari goalkeeper Federico Marchetti.

The 26 year-old former Albinoleffe keeper has been a revelation this season and Milan are stepping up their interest following Christian Abbiati's knee injury.

While they have Nelson Dida, Zeljko Kalac, Marco Storari and Ferdinand Coppola all on the books, Milan chiefs do not consider any of that quartet as a long-term No1, says Tuttosport.

Along with Marchetti, also under consideration are Villarreal keeper Diego Alves and Le Mans' Bosman prospect Yoann Pele.
