Montreal Impact have confirmed the signing of Italian veteran Alessandro Nesta.
The 36-year old defender has signed an 18-month deal with the MLS club after finishing a ten-year stay with AC Milan recently.
Nesta revealed he did have offers from clubs in Europe but decided to opt for North America's top flight to link up with former Lazio and Italy teammate Marco Di Vaio.
"I'm very happy to be here," Nesta said. "Despite some offers to continue my career in Europe, I was looking for a new challenge and wanted to play in MLS.
"Upon visiting my friend Marco to see him play his first game with Montreal, I met great people in this club. I really liked what I saw and I was convinced Montreal was where I wanted to be."
Impact head coach Jesse Marsch added: "It's an incredible opportunity for our club to add a defender of his talent. We are very anxious to get him into our line-up because he will make us better on every level."
