AC Milan have gone cold on renewing the contract of Nigel de Jong.

The Holland midfielder's current deal expires at the end of the month and he had previously resisted attempts by Milan to discuss new terms.

However, Gazzetta dello Sport says this week, roles have reversed - with De Jong eager to discuss a new contract and Milan now looking elsewhere for midfield candidates.

De Jong has been in contact with Galatasaray and has also been linked with Manchester United this season.

The former Manchester City midfielder would be open to a return to England.
