AC Milan GM Galliani hails whizkids for Juventus win

AC Milan GM Adriano Galliani hailed their youngsters for victory over Juventus.

It was a victory decided by 18-year-old midfielder Manuel Locatelli and the last-gasp save of 17-year-old goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Galliani said: "I went to hug Gigio after the final whistle, but didn't realise he was bleeding and stained my jacket. I don't want to become blasphemous, but the blood of Gigio is important!

“I am feeling immense joy. I spoke to the President just now and he is also very happy. We've picked up 16 points in the last six rounds, it's something incredible, absolutely stratospheric.

“It is incredible that we won because of a player born in 1998 and another born in 1999. Gigio's save at the end reminded me of Christian Abbiati's at Perugia (to win the Scudetto).

“My blood was turning to ice as Sami Khedira hit the ball, then Gigio came to the rescue. Nobody else in Europe plays with a 17-year-old goalkeeper and 18-year-old midfield playmaker.

“This goes to prove we've done good work with our youth academy. Alessio Romagnoli is actually a bit old in there, he's 21! I think Gabriel Paletta's presence is under-rated, as he is fundamental in bringing his experience and positive example to help Romagnoli learn.

“Romagnoli was perfect tonight, I'm sure he will be the first choice centre-back for Italy over the next 10 years, when the current Juventus defenders end their careers."
