AC Milan defender Thiago Silva has been named the 2011 Samba d'Or.

Thiago Silva won the award for being the best Brazilian player in Europe of the past year by Sambafoot, following his excellent campaign in Italy where he played a significant role in helping his team to the Serie A title last season.

Barcelona right-back Dani Alves came in second place, while Porto striker Hulk came third in the final standings.
