AC Milan have confirmed Nigel de Jong has undergone a successful Achilles tendon operation.

The midfielder collapsed during Sunday's 4-2 victory at Torino and was diagnosed with a ruptured Achilles tendon in his left leg.

Surgery was successful and "the recovery period is approximately six months, save for complications."
