AC Milan defender Rodrigo Ely has undergone foot surgery.

Ely has had surgery on a metatarsal injury.

“Rodrigo Ely had an operation today which was carried out by professor Niek Van Dijk with the assistance of the club doctor Stefano Mazzoni," the Diavolo announced in a statement on their official website.

“The operation was a complete success and consisted of an osteosynthesis of the fractured fifth metatarsal bone in the left foot.

“The defender will have a check-up and an x-ray in six weeks' time which will help to ascertain a more precise recovery time."
