AC Milan coach Max Allegri was pleased with Djamel Mesbah's debut in their Coppa win over Lazio.

Allegri reshuffled his squad for the Coppa tie, as Mesbah was given his first start in a Milan jersey.

"Mesbah had a good game and defended in a very orderly fashion. El Shaarawy is improving with every match, while Merkel also played well. It's just a shame Merkel picked up that injury and it will be evaluated over the next few days."
