AC Milan coach Max Allegri explained holding back Mario Balotelli for their friendly defeat to Chelsea in the US.

Balotelli was given 45 minutes as a precautionary measure by Allegri.

"Mario took a knock in training so I preferred to only give him a half of football. Nevertheless, he did well out there."

Milan will play Los Angeles Galaxy in Miami on August 7.
