AC Milan coach Max Allegri defended Antonio Cassano after his quiet performance in Barcelona.

The former Real Madrid striker eventually was hooked during the thrilling 2-2 draw.

"Cassano, like all the others, worked to help out the team," insisted Allegri.

"I was convinced he'd have a great game, otherwise I wouldn't have fielded him. He did create an interesting opportunity, but four days after the high tempo game against Lazio, fatigue was always going to be an issue."
