AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri expects to be part of the title race after a poor start to the season.

Allegri was delighted with victory over Torino on the weekend.

"We played really well against Torino [last Sunday]. We have come from a good period, but we still have room for improvement.

"We want to finish this calendar year as close to first place as possible.

"I knew we could get over those difficult moments [at the beginning of the campaign]. But we have not done anything yet.

"Now we need to improve our level of play and go into the New Year in a better position in the table."
