AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani admits they still need to iron out final details before completing the loan signing of LA Galaxy star David Beckham.

"The player is joining us and will be signed in January," said Galliani, before leaving for the Uefa Cup trip to Holland with Heerenveen. "We are talking to his agent, but I think that the formula will be a free loan for a few months.

"This is not just a marketing ploy. We do not collect figurines, we are very proud of our policy.

"We are the only club around that is bringing people to the stadium. The team is ultra competitive and will remain as it is, but Beckham is something different and intriguing. It was he who chose Milan."
