AC Milan chief Galliani admits Real Madrid holding up Cassano deal

AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani admits there's still some work to do to get their deal for Sampdoria outcast Antonio Cassano over the line.

As part of the transfer that took him from Spain to Genoa, Real Madrid are owed €5m from his next move away from Samp.

"The negotiations for Cassano are at an advanced stage, but are not completed yet," Galliani told Sky Sport Italia.

"The problem is the money owed to Real Madrid. Who is going to pay it? Milan are not prepared to do so, neither are Sampdoria, so it's a real problem.

"We have done two out of three: there are agreements with the player and with Sampdoria. But who gives the €5m to Real Madrid? Milan are not prepared to do it."
