AC Milan captain Paolo Maldini expects to be available for selection by the start of September.

"I'm doing fine and my knee is okay," he said. "I should start running again at the end of August before I will have another medical consultation.

"If that goes well and there aren't any problems then I will resume training with my teammates and I'll be ready for the end of September."
