AC Milan coach Clarence Seedorf refused to be downbeat after their Coppa Italia elimination by Udinese.
The Rossoneri were beaten 2-1 at San Siro by Udinese despite taking the lead with Mario Balotelli after just six minutes.
"The whole team worked hard, but when they get tired and stretched out it's an old story in football," Seedorf told Rai Sport.
"We are not yet able to be consistent in terms of our football, but I saw interesting things today that leave me optimistic we'll be able to improve the situation.
"I saw some positive things tonight and others we need to work on. I am getting to know the players on the field, in the locker room and in training so together we can build a new type of football."
