AC Milan boss Rino Gattuso admits Udinese regret: But our best performance

AC Milan boss Rino Gattuso was upbeat after their 1-1 draw against Udinese.

A Gigi Donnarumma own goal ensured the Rossoneri failed to extend their winning run to four matches, but their task was made more difficult by a red card to Davide Calabria in the second half.

“There is a great regret that we drew," Gattuso reflected. “We put in one of our best performances, with desire, character and the right ideas.

“I am happy with the reaction of the team. We are giving an important response and that's how we need to carry on.

“I am pleased with the performance even though we didn't win."

Gattuso added: “Calabria? We aren't a ruthless team, but at times we make silly mistakes. As I always say, you can't buy experience on the pitch – it comes by playing.

“Before the sending off, Calabria played well."

The Milan Coach also praised Andre Silva, who started for the first time under the Italian's stewardship.

Andre Silva played an excellent match. It's true that he could do more, but you can see he has great qualities.

“He has the talent but needs to improve in being street-wise. I expect desire from my players and intensity in their work."
