AC Milan boss Leonardo delighted to clinch late win over Chievo

AC Milan coach Leonardo was pleased with the three points against Chievo, though upset over David Beckham's Achilles injury.

The 1-0 victory over Chievo was sealed in stoppages by a Clarence Seedorf screamer, but only after Beckham had limped off with a ruptured Achilles tendon.

"This game is an emblem of the entire season. It has been an odd year for many reasons and we never expected to have so many ups and downs, regardless of how the campaign ends," said Leonardo.

"Such strong emotions come because of my ties to Milan. I think back to the 13 years here as a player, a director and now a Coach. This is what makes me happiest.

"This team has always maintained its foundations, its identity and a certain level of control. That is why we are here."

The midweek Champions League humiliation at Manchester United is swept away, as Inter losing 3-1 at Catania re-opened the Scudetto race.

"I think Inter still have the ball in their court. They've been winning for a long time, have many resources and are very strong," added the tactician.

"We must continue our path without making too many calculations. There are 10 games to go and we need to focus only on what we achieve.

"Then, step by step, we'll see where we end up."
