AC Milan coach Pippo Inzaghi dropped Fernando Torres for their 1-1 draw with Fiorentina.
Inzaghi went with Jeremy Menez ahead of the on-loan Chelsea striker.
"Torres is exactly as we expected, he needs some time. I have to make choices and tonight went for Menez, who did well, while I thought the final stages were the right time for Torres to make a difference," he said.
"We are missing Montolivo, who is fundamental for creating the play from midfield with his technical skills. The players are doing everything I ask and don't forget we had lost to Fiorentina for the last three years here."
