AC Milan coach Max Allegri explained giving goalkeeper Gabriel his debut in their win over Udinese.
Gabriel kept a clean sheet for the 1-0 triumph.
"Tonight I chose Gabriel because I have a lot of faith in him. I evaluated he is not in the Champions League squad, as when we drew it up he had a shoulder injury, so Marco Amelia will have to play on Tuesday against Barcelona.
"Seeing as we get one injury after another, I tried not to risk Amelia! Gabriel has great qualities and is a prospect for the future."
