AC Milan coach Max Allegri says Antonio Cassano deserves his extended first team run.

Allegri admits Milan fought to convince Cassano to stay at the San Siro.

He explained: "Cassano is doing very well. There was talk about him in the summer because it seemed he was leaving.

"Instead, we are very happy, because it was also still Milan's intention not to sell him."
