Chelsea are determined to win the race for Atletico Madrid ace Sergio Aguero.

The Daily Star Sunday says Chelsea have decided to pay a British record £40million fee for Atletico Aguero - it's just a question of when.

A deal for the Argie was set up for this week, before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.

But after scoring against Panathinaikos in a Champions League qualifier on Wednesday, Aguero, 21, is ineligible to play for Chelsea in Europe this season.

A source said: "Roman Abramovich is ready to push the boat out again in terms of big signings.

"Chelsea could still try to do the Aguero deal now because, at 21, he's one for the future."
