Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich will bankroll a major January spending spree.
The Daily Star says Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti's priority will be a top-class centre back, with his decision not to replace Ricardo Carvalho clearly backfiring.
Benfica centre back David Luiz is Ancelotti's No. 1 target, while Bolton's Gary Cahill has also been linked.
Ancelotti is also keen on Blackburn starlet Phil Jones but the Italian sees the young defender as one for the future.
