Chelsea are set to hand Frank Lampard a new contract.

The Sunday Mirror says Lampard is to be offered a contract extension to keep him at Chelsea until 2015.

The midfield star will have just one year left on his current deal at the end of the season. But Chelsea hierarchy regard the 33-year-old as a prize asset - on and off the field.

Lampard is viewed by club owner Roman Abramovich as the consummate professional and a role model for the youngsters, like Josh McEachran and Daniel Sturridge.

"Always last off the training pitch," said a Chelsea insider. "He is always looking to improve himself. And it is not for the benefit of Chelsea TV. He is just a great professional."
