Abramovich has no firm replacement for unwanted Chelsea boss Ancelotti

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has no candidate lined up to succeed Carlo Ancelotti.

The Daily Star says Chelsea club risk being left in limbo this summer as Abramovich dithers over who to appoint as the seventh manager in his eight years' ownership of the club.

It had been assumed billionaire Abramovich had someone earmarked to take over.

A return for ex-caretaker manager Guus Hiddink as director of football, with Marco van Basten as his coach, remains a possibility - but the Russian has still not made up his mind who is the best man for the job.

Abramovich was keen on Pep Guardiola of Barcelona, but the highly-rated coach plans to stay at the Nou Camp for at least one more year.

And the billionaire, even though his relationship with former boss Jose Mourinho has improved, is not willing to swallow his pride and ask 'The Special One' to leave Real Madrid to come back to London.

A source close to Abramovich said last night: "No one knows who will replace Ancelotti - not even Roman.

"And until someone comes in, the rebuilding of the squad cannot start. A new manager will be consulted about who comes in and who goes out."
