Abramovich backing AVB Chelsea clearout to the hilt
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is fully behind manager Andre Villas-Boas and his plans for a major squad overhaul.
The Telegraph says there remains no appetite to change the manager with, instead, Villas-Boas given a clear mandate for change by Abramovich.
It has helped the Portuguese’s cause that some of Chelsea’s most disappointing players this campaign — such as Florent Malouda and to an extent Didier Drogba and Ashley Cole — are the older ones while the likes of Juan Mata and Daniel Sturridge, who he has championed, have thrived.
As long as his team at least stay fourth, and wins - or goes close to winning - a cup, AVB is expected to retain the Russian billionaire’s faith.

AVB should prove himself if he is a good coach. AVB is the only coach that does not know the ability of his players. He AVB should know that by now Torres & Lukaku have nothing to offer. AVB should not have sold Anelka by now. How can AVB talk about offloading all the big boys in his team? Is Torres better than Drogba? Is Lukaku better than Solomon Kalou? ManU has come back into competition just because old and experience Paul Scoles is back into the team. AVB does not know that some of these big boys their experience matters. Ok! What was the contribution of Torres in today's FA with Barminham? If AVB is a big coach he cannot be there and ManU equalized all the 3 goals that Chelsea scored. He cannot be their and Arsenal won him when he scored first. Morinho should be back.
