Abraham: Chelsea first-team experience prepared me for Bristol City

Tammy Abraham says being given an opportunity to mix it in Chelsea's first-team in the summer has helped him perform in the Championship.

The 19-year-old striker has scored 18 league goals for Bristol City during his season-long loan, for a total of 21 in 38 matches in all competitions.

Currently recovering from an injury, Abraham some with Chelseafc.com about how his summer with the Blues prepared him physically and mentally for senior football with the Robins.

"Being involved with the first team at Chelsea during the summer gave me a lot of confidence going into the season and I just knew that I had to do a job at Bristol City, which was to go there and perform, and that's what I've been doing," he said.

"There's a massive difference (between academy football and senior football) because you're coming up against players who are bigger, stronger and faster than you so you have to try to find the weakness of your opponent and exploit that.

"It's more about your mentality and looking after yourself. There is always another game just a few days away so if things don't go well there is always an opportunity to redeem yourself.

"It's all about how you prepare yourself going into matches."
