Liverpool reserves coach Gary Ablett has praised Jermaine Pennant after he featured in this week's friendly victory over Everton.

"Even in my first season last year, Jermaine and a number of seniors played and their attitude was always magnificent," Ablett told liverpoolfc.tv.

"Jermaine came to me and said he'd like to play and so I spoke to the boss (Benitez) and he said if he wants to play let him play. His attitude was first class and he did well for us."
