Aberdeen skipper Anderson revels in cup triumph

Russell Anderson was over the moon after captaining Aberdeen to the Scottish League Cup on Sunday.

The Dons got the better of Inverness 4-2 in a penalty shootout after 120 minutes of scoreless play at Celtic Park and the victory was well-received by skipper Anderson who played a key role in Glasgow.

"It's an incredible feeling. It's been a long time coming," said the 35-year old defender.

"It was a very nervous, tense day. The longer the game went on you just wondered if it would go to penalties.

"The players have taken some great penalties, and I think we deserve it."

Anderson was now hoping the second-placed Dons can kick on in the league and finish as close to champions-elect Celtic as possible.

"You'd like to think so, it's not going to hinder us anyway. Now we've won one it will give us confidence to finish the season strongly," he added.
