Aberdeen's McInnes reserves high praise for young gun Jack

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes has heaped praise on promising midfielder Ryan Jack.

The Scotland U21 captain is emerging as a top quality player in the Scottish Premier League and Dons boss McInnes feels he will only get better with the more experience he gets.

"Jack is as good as anything in the Scottish Premiership," he told the Daily Record.

"I see him as one of the main midfielders at the club who will get even better in years to come.

"I always have huge confidence and faith in him in any game.

"You could play him virtually anywhere in the team and he would give you a high-level performance."

And McInnes added that Jack's position is safe despite the summer arrivals of experienced duo Barry Robson and Willo Flood.

"I made several signings in the summer but one of the best deals done was securing Ryan on a longer contract as well," he added.

"I felt we needed to bring in Barry and Willo but it was never the case they were ahead of Jack in the pecking order. His position was never under threat.

"I said from the outset I see Jack as one of the most important players at the club but he needed players around him who could help continue his improvement."
