Midfielder Derek Young has signed a contract extension that will see him remain at Aberdeen until at least the summer of 2011. The 28-year-old told the club's official website, "Jimmy has shown faith in me on several occasions now which is really pleasing although you'd think he would have learned from his mistakes!

"I didn't have too much to think about when I got the offer and right now all I want to do is get back into the starting eleven and help get this club back into Europe next season.

"The new boys here are probably sick of the rest of telling them how good it was in the UEFA Cup last year but it was something special for everyone, in particular the fans, and something this squad is more than capable of repeating."
