Aberdeen in the market for new midfielder

Aberdeen boss Craig Brown has confirmed he is looking for a new midfielder during the January transfer window.

The Dons have a severe shortage of quality in the middle of the park, especially since Togolese star Yoann Folly went down on New Year's day and will now miss the remainder of the season.

Brown told The Press and Journal that the midfield area would certainly be the region he is looking to strengthen in the winter.

"The midfield has now become the urgent requirement for us," Brown said.

"We had identified the area as one we needed to strengthen before Yoann suffered his injury, but with him not expected to return this season it has become vital for us to add reinforcements.

"With Yoann and young Fraser Fyvie both out long term, it leaves us very thin on the ground and we want to address the situation before the game with St Mirren if possible."
