Aberdeen goalkeeper Jamie Langfield has spoken out about his recent brain seizure, saying he feared for his life.
The 31-year old suffered the initial seizure about four weeks ago whilst at his in-laws house but luckily the situation was controlled by wife Louise, who is a trained nurse.
But two seizures followed and Langfield admits he did fear for his life and was worried that he would never see his daughters, Ruby and Maisie, ever again.
"Not long after I'd had a third seizure I was given drugs pretty quickly and then scanned," he told SunSport.
"The medication worked and eventually I started to come to.
"I was groggy but I did fear the worst.
"Until now I've never addressed this with Louise. I've never asked what she thought.
"But personally I thought it was severe. Life-threatening. That I might not survive it. That I could die.
"I couldn't remember everything.
"But by the Tuesday I was sat up in bed, talking away to Louise, and actually wondering what all the fuss had been about.
"I couldn't understand what I was doing in the hospital.
"It was an amazing turnaround.
"On the Monday I feared I was going to die. Yet just 24 hours later it was the complete opposite.
"I couldn't accept how serious it had all been."
Langfield is now back home and five days into his recovery at Pittodrie Stadium, doing light drills on the training ground.
