Aberdeen hope to have new keeper by weekend

Aberdeen boss Craig Brown has less than a week to install a new keeper at Pittodrie. The Pittodrie outfit have been in the market for a new shot-stopper for some time, leaving them short in an important area.

David Gonzalez is their only senior keeper available at the moment, as Jamie Langfield suffered a seizure earlier in the summer and remains some way off a return to action.

"We are looking at a couple of keepers - one could be a signing and the other would be a loan if we get access to them," Brown said.

"We have to get in another for next week because we only have David Gonzalez, who is a very fine goalkeeper, the Colombian international goalkeeper.

"But we are looking for another who will be number two throughout the season unless he proves that he is better than the man who is in possession.

"We have to have a goalkeeper for next Saturday so we are on the case at the moment and hopefully early in the week we will manage that."
