Aberdeen happy with UEFA Cup draw

Aberdeen football chief Willie Miller has revealed their UEFA Cup group will provide the extra cash needed to tie down their best players to new deals.

"The draw could have been better financially if we had Bayern Munich in the group but we will make some extra money as we should sell out our home ties," said Miller. "What it most definitely is not going to be is a Klondyke to cure all our ills and keep the club going for the next ten years, even though it is certainly a boost.

"The income will help us take care of the future and I will now be able to talk to those players who are out of contract at the end of this season. The extra income will also be invested throughout the club from the grassroots to the first team. It was a matter of pride that Chris Clark, Michael Hart, Zander Diamond, Andrew Considine and Darren Mackie, who all played against Dnipro, came through our system."

The Dons have drawn Lokomotiv Moscow, FC Copenhagen, Atletico Madrid and Panathinaikos.
