Aberdeen expecting injured Magennis back sooner than later

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes says Josh Magennis should not be sidelined by a knee injury for too long.

The 23-year old striker was forced to withdraw from the Northern Ireland squad for World Cup qualifiers against Azerbaijan on Friday and Israel on Tuesday after injuring his knee but McInnes suggests it is not too serious.

"He's seeing a specialist and that will determine what happens," he told Sky Sports.

"We anticipate some surgery might need to be done, but it'll be very minor and hopefully he'll be back with us in not too long."
