Aberdeen boss Calderwood resigned to losing Aluko

Aberdeen boss Jimmy Calderwood is aware that the big club's are watching young winger Sone Aluko. The 20-year-old has impressed since signing from Birmingham City for £75,000 last summer having featured in 31 of the Dons' 37 SPL games this term.

"The kid was terrific at Ibrox and he's made a habit of delivering on the big occasions," Calderwood told the Daily Record.

"But displays like that put him on the radar of wealthier clubs than Aberdeen and that's a massive worry.

"Scouts from most of the major clubs tend to be in the stand for games at Ibrox and they could not fail to have been impressed.

"I know Walter Smith and Ally McCoist certainly were."

"We've not had any approaches so far and I'd rather things stayed that way. Sone has been outstanding twice against Rangers this season," he added.

"He is a wonderful player and we know bigger clubs will ask about him. However, it's in his best interests to stay here. He still has a lot to learn."
