Alloa's plastic pitch has prompted a rethink from Aberdeen boss Jimmy Calderwood who was worried the artificial surface may spark a raft of injuries. The Dons trained on the surface on Tuesday and Calderwood told his club's official website: "Despite my concerns over plastic pitches, the pitch is better than I thought it would be.
"The players were able to wear rubber studs and they seemed okay on it.
"We will assess the players in training on Thursday and see if there is a reaction. Derek Young will not be risked on that surface but some of the other concerns, such as Zander and Seve (Severin), seemed okay."
