Aberdeen boss Brown blasts Bolton over bid for Celtic midfielder Kayal

Aberdeen boss Craig Brown has slammed Bolton Wanderers' pursuit of Celtic midfielder Beram Kayal.

Brown is angry over Bolton's £2 million offer for Kayal while demanding £15 million for Gary Cahill.

He told the Daily Record: "There is a lack of respect for our game down there. I know that because I have worked in both countries. English clubs look disparagingly at the Scottish scene - they don't respect it the way they used to when they could come up here and get players of the quality of Kenny Dalglish, Gordon Strachan and Jim Leighton.

"The feeling now is that there is nobody worth taking. Or the ones who do catch their eye will only go for peanuts because the feeling is that they have still to prove themselves in a good league."

Brown added "If Kayal was playing in England he would be going for £6m at least.

"Emilio Izaguirre was outstanding last season and is another who will be attracting attention but, again, if any offers come in they will be much less than they'd be if he were playing for an English club."
