Aberdeen hosts Dundee United tomorrow and manager Craig Brown insists he will be very prudent with his team selection knowing that he has a Scottish Cup semi-final looming.
The Dons, currently sitting 9th on the league table, meet Hibernian at Hampden on April 14 for a chance to play either Celtic or Hearts in the cup final prompting Brown to really ponder his selection process for the visit of the fourth-placed Tangerines .
"A win would be a bonus against Dundee United even though you want both. It would be foolish to risk a player to get the win here if it meant we lost him for the Cup game.
"I'm not saying we won't go all out to win this game - of course we will. We could do with the morale boost before Hampden.
"But previous results will have no bearing on the Hibs (semi-final) tie. Rangers went into the Old Firm game on the back of three defeats and no one gave them a chance. Every game is different.""The most important thing is having our best players fit for Hampden," Brown said.
